What is Contemporary Art?

Contemporary art, as it's called, is considered the art of today. It came to be known as such during the second half of the 20th and the 21st century. Most artists take inspiration from the world around them, influenced by cultural diversity, technology, status quo, and changes in everyday life.

Contemporary artists use a diverse collection of materials, such as leather, plastic, recyclable re-used, re-purposed, objects, glass, coffee, tea, and more. They use new methods and concepts to elicit an emotion from the viewer. Stretching current subjects and challenging the boundaries of perception.

Contemporary art is distinguished by its lack of uniformity, principles, subject, ideology, beliefs, and other "-ism." It is a dialogue in which the artists converses with the viewer concerning cultural identity, family, community, religion, patriotism, politics, more.

Modern Art and Contemporary Art are used interchangeably. However, this causes a lot of confusion for both terms. Modern Art is different in many ways.
